State of Oregon – Substance Use Help and Information

The state of Oregon has some of the best resources for helping their residents in the country. Below is a summary of the 24/7 phone lines, resource websites and directories.

Oregon Health Authority (OHA)

Oregon’s addiction services, overseen by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), offer comprehensive support for individuals facing substance use disorders, including alcohol and drugs, as well as problem gambling. These services are designed to provide a coordinated system for prevention, treatment, and recovery, aiming to improve health outcomes, strengthen families, and reduce societal impacts.

The OHA emphasizes the importance of accessible, high-quality care, utilizing measures like Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder and peer-delivered services to promote recovery and wellness across Oregon communities. Key programs include the Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission’s efforts to create a unified approach, the Drug Addiction Treatment and Recovery Act (Measure 110) for a health-based response to drug addiction, and community-based mental health programs to connect individuals to local services.
